Pencil Post Bed & optional canopy frame

The delicately tapered octagonal posts of my pencil post bed are capped with finials (as shown). An optional 4 or 6 piece canopy frame with or without finials is also available. When you order your pencil post bed we'll ask for the thickness of your mattress and boxspring so we can adjust the height of the headboard accordingly. Sturdy angle iron brackets support your boxspring and mattress and knock down mortise and tenon joinery permits complete disassembly for UPS shipping. If you'll be using your pencil post bed with just a mattress or futon we will build the bed with a hardwood slat platform which provides excellent support while still allowing your mattress to breath. All king size beds include a center support slat and post. An optional center support is available for full and queen size beds.

Twin: 43.25" wide x 79.25" long x 82" high (includes 4" h finial)

Queen: 64.25" wide x 84.25" long x 82" high (includes 4" h finial)

Adding a Canopy frame adds 1" to the height
Replacing the finial with a canopy frame reduces the height by 3"
Beds with no finial or canopy frame are 78" high
The inside dimensions of the bed frame are 1" longer and wider than the standard mattress size to allow for bedding.

Pencil post beds are available in these standard woods:

The base prices for pencil post beds are for cherry and include finials and angle iron supports for a box spring and mattress. King size beds also include a center support beam and post.

• Replace angle iron supports with a slatted hardwood platform for twin, full or queen bed +$350
• Replace angle iron supports with a slatted hardwood platform for King or California king bed +$400

All beds are built to order so that the headboard can be placed at the correct height in relation to the top of your mattress. When we receive your order we will contact you to get the thickness of your mattress or mattress and box spring. If you will be purchasing a new mattress but haven't picked it out yet please don't let that keep you from ordering your bed now. We typically have an 12-16 week backlog so you'll have at least a few weeks to get your mattress dimensions to us. Placing your order right away will get your bed in our production schedule while you pick out a mattress. All types of mattresses can be used on our beds.
