Mission Settle - quartersawn white oak

This settle was built to the exacting specifications of the customer. He was particularly concerned that the quartersawn grain be visible on all 4 sides of the legs. This required that the legs be made from 4 pieces of 2" thick quartersawn white oak that were mitered together to form each leg. Pinned through mortise and tenon joinery was used whenever possible. The cushions were made by a local custom upholstery shop. The same customer also bought a custom Morris chair and ottoman.
