Spindle Bed

My spindle bed is inspired by the beautiful fanlight windows found above the front doors of many New England homes. The customer it was designed for had seen other spindle beds but was unhappy with the transition between the heavy lower portion of the bed and the light spindle and bow portion. The detail above shows the smooth transition between the 1 3/4" thick post of the headboard and the 1" round spindle bow. The original bed was made to take a box spring and mattress (supported by angle iron brackets not shown in the photo), but the design can be modified to accept just a mattress on a slatted platform. The spindle bed is available in queen and king size only
Queen: 65" wide x 84" long x 42" high (See note about height below)
King: 81" wide x 84" long x 42" high

Bed Height: Overall bed height will depend on the thickness of your mattress and boxspring.. We will build the bed so that the top of the headboard is 20" above the top of your mattress. We can also adjust the height from the floor to the bottom of the bed rails (8" in the above photo) which affects the height to the top of your mattress.

The inside dimensions of the bed frame are 1" longer and wider than the standard mattress size to allow for bedding.

Spindle beds are available in these standard woods:

• The spindles in these beds are always ash because of its strength

The base prices for the spindle bed are for either cherry or maple and include angle iron supports for a box spring and mattress. King size beds also include a center support beam and post. A slatted hardwood platform may be substituted for the angle iron supports (for an additional charge) for those who wish to use just a mattress.

The following optional items are available:

• Center support beam and post for queen bed +$150

All beds are built to order so that the headboard can be placed at the correct height in relation to the top of your mattress. When we receive your order we will contact you to get the thickness of your mattress or mattress and box spring. If you will be purchasing a new mattress but haven't picked it out yet please don't let that keep you from ordering your bed now. We typically have an 12-16 week backlog so you'll have at least a few weeks to get your mattress dimensions to us. Placing your order right away will get your bed in our production schedule while you pick out a mattress. All types of mattresses can be used on our beds.
