Everybody needs bookcases but everybody, it seems, needs them in a slightly different size. While I have made custom bookcases for years this is my first "standardized" design. I can, of course, easily change dimensions to suit your particular needs but this basic design will at least give you somewhere to start from.

The construction of this bookcase is the same as my fully dovetailed bureaus with the case sides dovetailed to the case top for exceptional strength as well as beauty. All shelves are adjustable with inconspicuous brass pins in 1/4" holes. For the sake of economy as well as strength I use 1/2" cherry veneer plywood for the backs of these bookcases.
